SUN Project End of Year Party

On Wednesday December 12th 2012, The SUN project held their annual End of Year Party. This year it was hosted by the Wandsworth group and held at Tooting United Reformed church from 2pm until 4.30pm.  The venue was large and inviting and had several stain glassed windows which made it  very appropriate for this time of year .  It was very tastefully decorated with Christmas lights and a tree and tinsel.

Several of the Wandsworth group members arrived early to help set the room up with tables and chairs and tablecloths. Soon afterwards the food arrived and was duly laid out on the tables along with snacks and soft drinks. This year a local caterer was used who went by the name, “Anna Bakes” and she certainly did- to a very high standard in fact! there wasn’t much left over! There were handmade sausage rolls, beautiful quiches, vegetarian pizzas and vegetable pastries and the desserts just melted in the mouth, everything from mini raspberry pavlovas to chocolate brownies. Mmm, delicious.

One of the Wandsworth group members provided the background music on his laptop, but being a SUN  party we couldn’t get by without some live entertainment. This was provided by Mike and me and another Wandsworth group member.

Then it was time for the annual quiz which was devised and compeered by two Sutton and Merton group members. The quiz was very topical and highly relevant to this past year in the UK with some very interesting and  challenging questions. After the scores were tallied up and the winning team announced, prizes were awarded.

The Vicar from whom we hired the venue popped in to say hello and to wish us all a good time and a happy Christmas.

This year Wandsworth group decided to organise a raffle and several members kindly donated prizes.   After the quiz, these were distributed to the winning tickets. There were some lovely prizes including a food hamper, and a candle handcrafted by one of our Wandsworth members. People commented on how pleasantly surprised they were to have won something as usually they don’t and some of the prizes were amazing!

It was then time to express thanks to all those who helped  make the event such a success  and team manager Angela Fisher did this, giving out yet more gifts.  Many people commented on how much they had enjoyed this year’s party, some had come for the first time and wished we could have a party like this every week! Everyone helped  with the clearing up and it was done in record time.

All that remains to be said is, thanks to all our members for attending, without you, it couldn’t happen.
